On 13 March 2020 Prof. Sakaguchi presents his groundbreaking work on T cells – the “blue helmets” of the immune system – at the Paul-Ehrlich-Institut. These cells help the immune system to stay in balance and to differentiate between friend and foe. Any errors in this differentiation can lead to serious diseases such as cancer or autoimmune disorders, e.g. rheumatism or multiple sclerosis.
